Is the free tier actually useful?
Yes. 10 pages covers a government form, a medical document, or a class assignment every month. The free tier is permanent. It is not a trial, it does not expire, and it does not require a credit card.
Where is my data stored?
On your device only. Documents never leave your browser. The only data stored outside your device is your account email and scan count, held securely by our authentication provider so we can enforce monthly limits and process billing.
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not have your data to sell. Your documents stay on your device. The account data we do hold (email, scan count) is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used for marketing beyond direct product communication you opt into.
What happens if I cancel?
Your locally stored documents remain on your device. Your account is closed and any account-level data is deleted. We do not need to delete your documents because we never had them in the first place.
Can I use this at work?
Yes. The Professional tier adds batch processing, advanced restructuring, and priority AI processing for power users. For institutional licensing across schools, hospitals, government agencies, and other organizations, contact admin@lonia.ai for custom terms.
How does AI image description work?
When you encounter an image with no useful alt text, you can choose to send that one image to an AI vision service to generate a description. This is opt-in per image, or you can set a global default. The image is not stored after the description is returned. You can also disable AI image description entirely and use Aletheia's non-AI features (OCR, restructuring, form labeling) by themselves.
Why is the Student tier cheaper?
Because students are the population most often blocked by inaccessible course materials and least able to absorb a full subscription on top of tuition. The Student tier requires a verified .edu email address and includes the BrailleBuddy connection for blind students who need braille output.
Are accessibility features actually included in every tier?
Yes. Every tier includes WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, full keyboard navigation, screen reader support, high contrast mode, and reduced motion support. Accessibility is not a premium feature.
